The Glow Guide
Following the correct prep and aftercare is essential for the most even, long lasting result. Please read through each section carefully before your appointment.
Before Your Appointment
- For the best result, shave and exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment. If you do not exfoliate regularly, it is ideal to exfoliate a few times in the days leading up to your appointment, making sure your final exfoliation is still done 24 hours prior.
- Please exfoliate using an exfoliating mitt rather than a scrub, and avoid any oils, lotions, deodorant, perfumes or makeup before or directly after your tan (until rinsed). We offer our recommended exfoliating mitts in studio for purchase.
- Make sure there is no existing self tan or old spray tan left on the skin before your appointment. Any waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior, while shaving is best done 24 hours before.
- On the day of your appointment please arrive with clean, product free skin making sure that your last water/shower rinse before getting sprayed is done 24 hours before your appointment. DO NOT SHOWER RIGHT BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
- Manicures, pedicures, facials and massages should also be done well before your appointment, ideally 24 to 48 hours in advance. We also recommend avoiding Dove soap and any fragranced products before and after your tan.
- After your appointment, you’ll need to avoid getting any part of your skin wet or sweating until your rinse time, so please plan accordingly. This includes washing your hands where possible. Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment, ideally sweatpants or loose pants with sandals or flip flops, and avoid anything tight or restrictive.
What to Wear
- Please wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment, ideally sweatpants or loose trousers with sandals or flip flops.
- Avoid anything tight, restrictive or likely to rub against the skin after your tan. Tight clothing can affect how the tan develops and may cause marks or uneven areas.
- Even in summer months you'll still want to make sure you wear long pants to protect your fresh tan until your initial rinse!
- If it is raining or expected to rain the day of your appointment, please wear a rain jacket and try to park as close to our entrance as possible!
After Your Appointment
- After your appointment, avoid touching your skin, getting wet or sweating until your advised rinse time. This includes washing your hands where possible.
- When it is time to rinse, use lukewarm water and your hands only, gently working the water with your hands over the skin until the water runs clear. Do not use soap, body wash or shampoo during the initial rinse, and do not simply stand under the water, as this can affect development -You Must use your hands to work the bronzer off your body as soon as the water hits your skin in the shower
- Once rinsed, pat your skin dry rather than rubbing.
Maintaining Your Glow
- Wait until 24 hours after being sprayed before applying lotion.
- For the duration of your tan, use only fragrance free lotions and soaps, and moisturise once or twice daily to keep the skin hydrated.
- Avoid baths, long hot showers and saunas where possible, as well as any oils as these can cause the tan to fade more quickly and unevenly.
- Your tan will continue developing over the first 24 hours after getting sprayed.
